Biography

Zhiwen Zheng is a final-year PhD candidate at the Research School of Management, College of Business and Economics, The Australian National University. Her academic journey is shaped by a multidisciplinary background spanning economics, law, business information systems, and project management. This diverse foundation inspires her systems thinking approach to understanding how organizations, technologies, and projects can leverage their capabilities to create social, environmental, and economic value.

Zhiwen’s doctoral research examines how stakeholder engagement enhances project value creation in Australian government projects. Her work contributes to both theory and practice by offering insights that support government agencies and communities in their efforts to pursue the common good and generate social value. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Project Management and the International Journal of Conflict Management, and has been presented at leading international conferences, including the AOM, EURAM, and EGOS.

Alongside her research, Zhiwen is actively engaged in teaching and brings enthusiasm and experience to her educational roles. She has served as a sessional academic for undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive courses in project management, business information systems, and management. Her teaching philosophy is strongly informed by student-centred principles and is oriented towards supporting students’ career development by translating theoretical knowledge into meaningful real-world practice.
